Mini Succulent Garden

Easy sun loving succulent garden in a shallow pot.

For this container garden I chose 2 different Echeveria (baby chicks and mother hen) plants surrounded by Sedum. The blue Echeveria has a long flower spike with orange flowers. The sedum will have tiny short stem yellow flowers.

I spaced my plants to allow room for growth and easy harvesting of spreading (off-shoots). This will allow better control when transplanting to another section in my garden. I found the pot on clearance at JoAnn’s. Total cost for pot and plants $15.

Blooming Cannas

I’m officially in love! Cannas are large leaf, flowering, tropical plants. Best of all they are a bulb! This is the first time I’ve grown them. They make beautiful focal points and great borders. Each plant can reach 4′-6′ and will multiply as time goes on. They are sun loving but does best in moist well drained soil. My best plants are in wine barrels with rocks in bottom for drainage. I live in zone 9 and water 3 times a week. I’ve sprayed orchid food on the leaves and soil and each plant continues to re loom through the summer season. Being a new gardener I believe these are super easy to grow and make impressive conversation peaces.
